The ordering kiosk

The kiosk is a browser page (/{your-organisation}/kiosk) open on a tablet or touch screen, logged in with a staff account. It needs the Kiosk module (Modules tab); its look is set in the Kiosk tab.

The customer's journey#

1. Welcome screen: carousel or video, with a language pill (FR, AR, EN, ES, NL). A "Mobile order / Scan to order" QR code appears if ordering from a phone is possible (QR menu).
2. Dine in or Takeaway.
3. The menu: tabs All, Featured, Combos; search; a "Sold out" badge on unavailable products; allergens shown.
4. Variants and options in a dedicated sheet; combos are built step by step.
5. The "My order" basket: kitchen note, "A little extra?" suggestions, phone number to earn loyalty points, Promo code then Apply.
6. Send the order. The customer sees "Order sent!" with their pickup number, then the screen returns to the welcome screen after 8 seconds.

After 90 seconds without touching the screen, the kiosk resets. If the connection drops it retries four times ("Reconnecting…"); there is no offline queue: an order that was not sent is lost.

What the till does#

1. A "Kiosk order to validate" notification reaches staff devices.
2. The order is open but held: it does not reach the kitchen yet. Its pickup number is the day's order number.
3. The cashier opens it, checks it, then taps Validate → kitchen. The ticket goes to the kitchen.
4. They tap Take payment when the customer pays (building and paying an order).

Asking for help#

The Help button opens "Need help?"; Call sends a "Kiosk assistance" notification to staff.

Leaving kiosk mode#

Staff press the top-left corner of the screen for 1.5 seconds: the page goes back to the till. The kiosk goes full screen by itself and keeps the screen awake; it installs as the QodPOS Kiosk app (installing the app).

Statistics#

Each step of the journey is counted and feeds the Kiosk funnel card of the analytics app.
