The kitchen screen

Read orders, start and finish each dish, filter by station, set sound and priorities.

Before you start

  • For 👨‍🍳 Kitchen 🧭 Manager
  • Module Kitchen App
  • Setting SettingsModulesKitchen app

The kitchen screen (KDS) shows the orders to prepare as they leave the till, the waiter app, the kiosk or the QR menu. It replaces or complements the printed ticket.

Opening the screen#

  1. Open the kitchen's address on the dedicated screen (or the Cuisine icon if you installed it). The manager finds it in Settings › Appearance, "Kitchen application" card, with a button to copy it.
  2. Sign in with your PIN code (see signing in). The Kitchen role lands straight on this screen.

The screen is always dark. It is tied to the active point of sale. It only exists for business types that have a kitchen, and while the Kitchen App module is on (it is by default); otherwise you land on the till.

The orders#

Cards are laid out in columns, oldest first. A card shows:

  • the day number (#007, restarting at #001 after each Z), the table and the type (Dine in, Takeaway, Delivery, Online, Glovo);
  • the name of the customer or the person collecting ("👤 …") and the order note in a yellow box;
  • each line: "2× name — variant", its options, its note in an orange box, and its state;
  • the "n/total" counter of lines to finish, and a blue badge for those in progress;
  • the elapsed time since the order: grey, orange after 8 minutes, red after 15. The card itself turns orange at 15 minutes and flashes red at 20.

When the order is organised by courses (starter, main, dessert), lines are grouped under headings "1 · Starter", "2 · Main"… (see course sending).

Covers ("Covers: 4", if the option is on) show under the name, and when an order is split between several customers, each line carries a Customer 1, Customer 2… pill.

Only open or sent-to-kitchen orders appear: a finished order disappears. An order that gets items added reappears.

Moving a dish forward#

Each line has a button:

StateButtonEffect
Pendingblue flame ("Start")becomes In progress
In progressgreen tick ("Mark ready")becomes Ready (line struck through, greyed)
Ready—nothing

There is no going back: check before tapping the tick.

When the last line is ready, the order becomes Ready: it disappears from the screen, the till and waiters see "Ready", and an "Order ready" notification goes out. The green button at the bottom of the card (Order ready) marks everything at once. When several stations share the order, it becomes Station ready and only finishes your station's lines.

Stations#

If the business has several kitchen printers, a Filter by station menu appears at the top: All stations, one station per kitchen printer, or General (no station). You then only see your station's lines, according to the same assignments as for printing (setting up the kitchen). The choice is remembered on this screen.

Priority and timer#

  • The pin icon puts an order on priority: it moves to the top, with "PRIORITY".
  • The clock icon sets a preparation time (5, 10, 15, 20 or 30 minutes): the timer becomes a green countdown, then a red "Late!".

Priorities and timers are local to the screen: they are lost if you reload the page and are not shared with another screen.

Sound and notifications#

  • The speaker button mutes or restores sound. A sound rings when a new order arrives (not for items added to an existing order, and not when the screen opens).
  • Tap Enable on the banner to also get a notification for each new order, even with the screen asleep.
  • The manager chooses the sound in Settings › General, "Notification sounds" card.

The screen updates every 8 seconds ("Updated at …"). The Back office link leads to the dashboard.

Empty screen#

"No orders waiting — The kitchen is up to date!" (or, with a station chosen, "This station is up to date!").
